cast of characters

Lani and Ann are the Weaver sisters!

Lani's household consists of Steve, the long-suffering coding genius and computer security guru; Jim, Lani's tall, red-headed and handsome son, currently finishing his second year of college; Hunter, Jasmine, Himari, Chenault, the miraculous Onyx and the even more miraculous Resk, undisputed feline rulers of the house; and Jesse, the man-hating green-cheeked conure.

Ann's household consists of Don, who is not just a computer genius but a pilot, a builder, and a damn good father; their son Steve, the marathon-running, college-bound, funniest teenager I know; and wonder dog Tater.

Other family members are Laurie, Lani's beautiful daughter who teaches at elementary levels; her handsome son Alex, aka Alexander the Great; Mary and Bo, a/k/a Mom and Dad, and Bud and Ann, Steve's patient and wonderful parents.

Fine, fine, fine ... (posted by Lani)

Here. My Yard. Wildflowers. *mutter*

Pushy little sisters, I tell ya.

Seriously though, we're fine. I've just gotten out of the habit of blogging, I suppose. It's full-on summer now and there are lots of flowers here, lots of chipmunks and squirrels and the fattest rabbit you've ever seen (how he doesn't become lunch for the fox is a source of constant amazement). Birds everywhere and more hummingbirds than you can imagine; I have feeders up everywhere and it's not unusual to have every feeding port at every feeder filled. The fox is a regular visitor -- well-fed chipmunks are, not surprisingly, a fox magnet. And yes, we've had the bear back. Make that the bearS, since it appears we have not only Big Bear but a pair of Teenage Bears. The big guy is no problem; the little ones, not so much so. They're far too unafraid of people for their own good. Our neighbors have been shooting them with rubber bullets every time they wander up too close -- nobody wants to kill them but they're coming up and looking into windows and such, and that's just not going to end well for people or for bears.
